Cold Weather Essentials for your Humidor

Have you ever wondered why when the weather turns colder, the humidity in your humidor will start to fluctuate? This occurs because the relative humidity drops as the air gets dryer in colder temperatures. This said, there is no need to panic, just put a couple of Boveda Packs in your humidor to increase the relative humidity.

Use Boveda Humidity Packs

In our 17 years of business, these might be the most innovative products we have ever seen to help maintain optimum humidity levels during the cooler winter months. The best news? They only cost $5.95. We have many customers who use Boveda as their go to solution for humidity control especially in the winter. Why? Because it works.

This is also the reason we partnered with Boveda by placing them in side all our newly released Limited Edition cigar humidors.

Invest in a Quality Hygrometer

Investing in a quality hygrometer will ensure you get accurate humidity readings within your humidor. It’s important to make sure you are confident in the humidity reading your hygrometer is showing. Ever wonder how you test your analog or digital hygrometer to see if it is accurate?

Simple, perform the salt test and re-calibrate it if necessary.

Replace your Cigar Humidifiers in the Winter

If your humidor is old, or is a beginner humidor, you may have an old sponge based humidifier that needs replacing. Like any sponge after some time, they lose the ability to retain water. No problem, we have a quick, simple solution. Simply take your humidifier apart and remove the dirty old sponge and replace it with a new, quality humidifier.

For maintaining your humidor in the winter, we recommend polymer slow release crystals.  These little rice grain size crystals hold up to 200 times their weight in water.

Did you know that you don’t have to buy a new humidifier? That’s right, you can buy a replacement bag for $5 and use your old humidifier housing.

They work excellent in conjunction with a couple Boveda packs. With the extra humidifier it will extend the life of your Boveda two-way humidification packs and work to maintain humidity levels when they drop in the winter.

With that said these cold weather essentials will allow you to make it through any winter.
